2026/27 The Dutch Mill Staff Introductions

Posted

This is the third year of The Dutch Mill, and it is looking like the best year yet. This group of people has hit the ground running and hasn't let up at all. It is everyone’s first year as part of this staff, but they are already acting like experienced journalists. The seven of us are excited and eager for the year ahead of us.

Senior Joseph Devereux, our plant expert of the crew, said he is looking forward to sharing his plant experience with everybody.

“I cover topics related to horticulture, as well as many other topics that show what life is truly like for me and my peers inside OHS,” Devereux said.

As you can see, we are ready to give our down-to-earth opinions on what it's like inside OHS. Another staff member here is junior Kinley Peterman, and she has a passion for drama.

“I am Kinley Peterman, and I am very involved with drama. I've loved theatre for a long time, so this year I also wanted to try other things besides just drama/theater, such as Future Teachers of America, Art Club, and TV Studio.”

Here at The Dutch Mill, we are involved in many things, allowing us to cover a wide variety of topics to bring to you. One very involved member of our staff is fellow senior Arianna Robson.

“This is my first year on The Dutch Mill staff, and I am excited to be a part of this group. Through The Dutch Mill, I hope to meet new people, learn new things and broaden my horizons. I've always had a passion for writing, and I hope to unleash that creativity through my articles.”

Leighanna Powell is also going to be staff writing this year. She is heavily involved with the arts.

"Hello, my name is Leighanna. I am a senior at Owensville High School. I love drawing and have a passion for helping others and animals, and I'm super excited to be able to share current news with the community,” said Powell.

One person who has been looking forward to a lot of activities this school year is senior Kelby Herbel.

“I am a senior this year. I am involved in Student Council, National Honors Society, FFA, Beta, Art Club, Drama Club, band and soccer. I like to be involved in the community through my family's nonprofit, Between the White Lines and my church, The Harvest Church. I am very excited to be a part of The Dutch Mill staff!”

The next person on our staff is our very own Kurt Brenner, who is an avid sportsman.

“I am Kurt Brenner. I like to participate in sports like wrestling and football. In my free time, I hang out with friends and family and enjoy hunting and fishing a lot,” said Brenner.

As for me, I am Elliott Cooper, a senior here at OHS. I am involved in Scholar Bowl. I am the Drum Major for the Marching Dutchmen, a part of Troubadours, and a member of our bowling team.

Finally, the last person is our staff advisor, Amy Quertermous. She has been the leader of The Dutch Mill since the beginning. She cannot wait to see what this year’s crew is capable of.

“We are excited for our brand new crew and all they can bring to you,” Quertermous said.
