The Owensville Future Farmers of America Chapter hosted their annual Back to School Social on Aug. 26.
The main activity this year was volleyball on the front lawn of the Ag Building. Students also participated in a diaper shower for their teacher, Mollie Henneke. Central Dairy ice cream was provided, along with a cake celebrating Henneke.
The Owensville FFA Chapter has several new officers this year.
Hadlee Ketcherside, a sophomore, who is the Owensville FFA’s historian this year reflected on her time so far as an officer and what she looks forward to.
“I have been able to connect with fellow officers and other members at the fair and during the recent FFA events,” said Ketcherside. “I am looking forward to being a leader and being able to help the other members. I can't wait to see what this year brings for the members, events, and contest teams!”
Emilee Huebler, also a sophomore and the chapter’s reporter also had a positive outlook.
“Being a new FFA officer has already been an exciting experience, and I am very thankful for the opportunity to serve my chapter as Reporter,” said Huebler. “I am looking forward to sharing our chapter’s activities, accomplishments, and experiences with our members and community. This year, I hope to help get more members involved and show others how many opportunities FFA has to offer. I am also excited to grow as a leader, work alongside my fellow officers, and make memories that I will carry with me throughout my FFA journey.”
The FFA also had a new event this year: The FFA Alumni Steak Night Dinner. The event took place on Aug. 29, in the new Youth in Ag Exhibit Hall. Members of the community could purchase a ticket prior to the event. Activities included dinner, live music, and live and silent auctions.
