This year, Missouri Day was a special celebration at Owensville Elementary School (OES), as students from the agriculture and drama departments at the high school joined forces to showcase the diverse history and culture of our state.
The agriculture kids brought Missouri's farming heritage to life, sharing interesting facts about the state's crops, livestock, and the important role agriculture plays in our lives.
Junior Alyvia Wilson shared fun facts with students.
“Did you know that the marshmallows we all know about are made of cow hooves?” Wilson asked.
From corn fields to cattle ranches, they explained how Missouri’s land supports many communities and contributes to the nation's food supply.
Meanwhile, the drama students reenacted historical moments and told stories about some of our famous Missourians, including singers like Sheryl Crow, and other famous icons like The Unsinkable Molly Brown. Their performances helped bring Missouri's past to life, showing how our amazing state of Missouri earned its nickname as the “Show-Me State.”
Together, these groups created a fun and educational experience for everyone, reminding us all why Missouri is such a unique and important part of America.
