Owensville High School’s FFA (Future Farmers of America) chapter took its annual trip with a group of active members to the National Convention in Indianapolis, Ind. The convention always offers a variety of activities for chapters to participate in, including concerts, rodeos and sessions that range from listening to a speaker or engaging in activities with other chapters to help strengthen team-building skills.
When choosing people to attend National Convention, FFA advisors look at how many points the members earned from going to chapter events, fundraiser participation, winners of the Creed contest, which is usually a first-year member called a greenhand. Members who sold the most fundraising items and won the Creed contest are usually the first on the list.
Emilee Huebler won the Creed contest to achieve a spot, and Madi Thomas, who was the top fundraiser, was also selected to attend.
“ Owensville FFA had an incredible time at the 98th National FFA Convention, from rocking out at the Ella Langley Concert to cheering at the thrilling PBR Rodeo. We explored the Mega Store, gained career insights at the Career Show, and visited Poe Hampshires to learn about animal care; explored AI techniques, and farm management practices. We wrapped up with a tour of Marcoot Jersey Creamery, where we saw their seven-generation dairy operation, watched a robotic milker in action, and discovered how they make delicious cheeses and ice cream right on the farm. It was a trip packed with learning, fun, and unforgettable experiences!” said FFA Reporter Hannah Keeney.
Everyone had a great time at the convention and hopes for the same next year.
